However few there may be, Canadian McDonald’s fans rejoice, a McDonald’s has partnered up to make a Beyond Meat burger. Labeled the P.L.T., the burger replaces the meat with the meatless Beyond Meat product that has been taking over the fast-food industry.
In a statement, McDonald’s VP of Global Menu Strategy, Ann Wahlgren, explained it was the customers’ interest in the meatless substitute that drew them to consider the option.
As customer interest in plant-based options accelerated rapidly, our curiosity piqued, too. We’ve kept an eye on this emerging trend and now we’re ready to learn more by running a test in one of our markets.
Currently, they are only serving the P.L.T. in 28 locations in Southwestern Ontario, Canada.
All things considered, they are a bit late to the party as chains like Burger King, Carl’s Jr., KFC, Subway, and more have all tried out making Beyond Meat products. KFC’s product even sold out soon after it was put on the menu.
The future of fast-food may be bright for vegans looking to get a bit of a McDonald’s fix. The product will start being sold on September 30 and through 12 weeks.
